Wolomi Launches Maternal Health Support Initiative in San Diego and Imperial County at $0 cost to Moms

Black pregnant woman holding her baby bump - Wolomi Launches Maternal Health Support Initiative in San Diego and Imperial County

Wolomi in partnership with VOA Southwest is proud to announce the launch of a comprehensive maternal health initiative to support the Healthy Start Program. This initiative is tailored to meet the needs of mothers in select locations across San Diego and Imperial County. We aim to address the critical disparities in maternal health outcomes by providing essential support to all mothers, with a particular focus on underserved communities.

The United States continues to grapple with one of the highest maternal mortality rates among developed nations, and the impact is disproportionately felt by Black women. Wolomi's new initiative seeks to combat this alarming trend by offering personalized, culturally competent care that guides mothers through pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood.

Key Features of the Initiative

Access to Community Support & Expert Guidance:

Mothers who enroll in designated ZIP codes through the VOA South West and Healthy Start program will receive comprehensive maternal health services at no cost. This ensures every mother gets the care and support she deserves. Participants will benefit from expert-led group support sessions, featuring specialists such as lactation consultants, midwives, mental health therapists, and more.

Mama Companionâ„¢ Program:

Our Wolomi Mama Companionâ„¢ program pairs eligible moms with trained companions who have experience navigating pregnancy and motherhood. These companions provide continuous support, guiding moms through appointments, preparing them for motherhood, and sharing valuable resources. The program also includes access to virtual doula visits, birth classes, and additional support services.

Culturally Competent Care:

Wolomi is committed to making a lasting impact in San Diego and Imperial County by offering culturally competent care tailored to meet the unique needs of the people. This approach ensures that care is not only accessible but also relevant and respectful.

"We believe that every mother deserves the chance to thrive, regardless of her background or circumstances," said Layo George, Founder & CEO of Wolomi.

"This initiative is about empowering women, reducing disparities, and ensuring that mothers in San Diego and Imperial County have access to the resources and support they need to navigate motherhood confidently.

This collaboration with VOA Southwest for their Healthy Start Program is a vital step in addressing the maternal health crisis, particularly in underserved areas where support is most needed.
